In this episode, we learn about the benefits of Learn2QuitNY, a six-week comprehensive text messaging program from the Quitline. This free program includes daily motivational messages to empower participants to stay focused and build skills. Learn2QuitNY also helps participants work toward weekly goals, such as setting a date to quit, navigating stress, and envisioning improved health.

In this episode, we hear from Rose Aulino, RN, CHMN, TTS, Psychiatric Nurse and Tobacco Treatment Counselor at Columbia County Mental Health Center in Hudson, NY. She also is a member of the Quitline's Healthcare Professional Task Force. Rose discusses tips for smokers and vape-product users to become nicotine-free during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

September 2020 | Gum Giveaway Offer

In this episode, we hear from the Quitline's Public Information Specialist, Tony Astran, MPA, APR, TTS. He discusses the Quitline’s ongoing nicotine gum promotion, which began in July. Throughout 2020 and while supplies last, smokers and vape-product users can receive up to three months of free nicotine gum.The episode features a testimonial from Ellen W. in Long Island, who is celebrating nearly two years of smoke-free living thanks primarily to support from the Quitline and use of nicotine gum.

July 2020 | Patient Referral Program

In this episode, we hear from two members of the Quitline's Marketing & Outreach Team: Paula Celestino, MPH, Client Relations and Outreach Director, and Patricia Bax, RN, MS, NCTTP, Marketing and Outreach Coordinator. They explain the importance of the Quitline's Patient Referral Program, which is designed to be an adjunct to healthcare providers' efforts to help their patients stop smoking and ensure readily available support following healthcare visits.

In this episode, we hear from Dr. Daniel Croft, MD, MPH, Senior Instructor, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, University of Rochester Medical Center. Dr. Croft explains the importance of quitting smoking, especially in light of COVID-19. He also provides guidance for healthcare professionals on treating tobacco- and nicotine-dependent patients, including referrals to the New York State Smokers' Quitline.
